I’m Digging Ayo
July 1, 2007
This morning I was lying on the couch under my ‘humble doona’ watching Video Hits and sipping at my instant coffee. Was the usual pop/house crap until Ayo’s song Help is Coming. I’ve never heard of this Nigerian/Gypsy singer but I was instantly taken by not only her stunning beauty but the soulful song.
I’ve since had a little looksie on the world of www and I likes what I sees…
Ayo is definitely someone I’ll be looking out for. So glad there is still new and interesting artists emerging.
Check out her youtube clip of Down on My Knees below.
Also high on my musical list at the moment is Robin Thicke, previously known as Thicke, and mistakenly given the label of ‘one hit wonder’ by 96.1fm. I loved his 2003 album titled A Beautiful World, even though it didn’t sell too well, and am soooo in love with his new song Lost Without You (below). I’m hanging out for payday so I can march my little legs to the stores and get myself a copy of his new album The Evolution of Robin Thicke. O yeah, he is definitely pretty fly for a white guy!

Tattoo Parlours in Sydney – Email Thread
June 28, 2007
I wrote:
Hey I have asked around a bit, and researched online and for tats in Sydney everyone is suggesting Innervision on Crown Street (is that the one you looked at?), The Steel Lotus on Crown Street, The Illustrated Man on Elizabeth street, or Kaleidoscope on Bondi Road Bondi.
Now I have heard bad things about Illustrated Man. Someone I knew went there years ago and said there were fleas in the seats and carpet. Gross! This same someone was a bit mental, so don’t know about the validity of the rumour… You know the one right? You can see it when you are on the train coming into Central, is on a corner? It looks like a bikie dump just from the entrance. Scary.
Fat-Stinky-Tom and his tattoo artist friend, Dunce used to bad mouth Innervision, but then I don’t know how much I would trust them anyway. Think it had something to do with Dunce not getting a job there. Hahaha.

She replied:
Thanks so much for that hun
yeah i asked Jake about innervision, yes the one i checked out on sat. and he had his tat done there like late last year he said they seem really professional and all. but pricey. His own was about $300 something…eeeks
i dont even think it’s that big.. it’s like a scorpian with some tribal like symbols around it..
but guess i could take the design there and get quote.
i’m thinking the symbol to side of my lower back…instead of centre. dunno…thinking thinking…u didn’t like the flowers? i just dunno if it’ll be lame to have this african symbol.. not “lame” coz it’s african.. but u know i see gwailo’s with the asian symbols and sometimes i think….neeeh…lol…
i dont want some african guy to see it on me and get the same reaction. hahah but definately no to the one on elizabeth st.. that place looks sooo gross.
i’ll never step foot in there!
hahah
but what about polymorph in enmore. is that only good for piercings?
thanks!mwah
I replied… to her reply:
i have never heard good or bad things about polymorph. Which makes me a bit shy of it cause it’s been there so long now, I would have thought it would have built a good rep by now! dunno.
Yeh I think we are probably better off going into the places and having a look and getting quotes.
I didn’t really like the flowers, they looked kind of messy and chunky. Not very stylish as an overall design to me. I dunno about african thing though… I don’t think it’s lame, but then maybe that’s cause I’m gwailo. hahaha… I’ll run it past my resident african and see how he reacts.
hahah
New Tat
June 26, 2007
So it’s been almost two years since I started a design for my next tat. I am a firm believer that people should (where possible) design their own tattoos, or at least get one custom designed for them. It’s bad enough turning up somewhere in the same pants or earrings (SHRIEK!) as someone else, but having the same permanent body art is just plain horrid.
Don’t choose a design off a wall!![]()
So a few months ago I finally got to the point where I felt at peace with my art that I want to put above the other tat on my lower back. Now is what I call the ‘cooling off period’, where I let a design sit in my mind, swirling around and then ‘setting‘. Considering you have this on you for life, I am really against rash decisions. If a tat doesn’t turn you on in a few months, imagine having it on your body for the rest of time?
My current besty has decided that she is going to get a tattoo done soon to mark the hard time she has been going through and I’m thinking of going with her to get my ink finally scratched into my skin. What do you think?
Also can anyone recommend who is a good tattoo artist in Sydney these days? I’m so out of touch with what’s cool and what’s not.
Guilt Free Snack
June 26, 2007
I am desperate to lose ten kilos!
I know it sounds like a lot, but I need to get rid of the tires (note the plural) around my belt line. The problem is that I am home all day every day and the temptation to revisit the pantry and fridge every ten minutes is almost too hard to bare.
But I have a great discovery that seems to be helping. I snack on raw beans/peas. Green beans, snow peas, whatever. I know it must sound revolting, but it’s a really good snack. They are super crunchy, so it satisfies my craving for fried crunchy things, yet sweet so I am not missing my sugar hit. Also they are bite sized and after a quick wash they are ready to eat! If it’s waaaaay too bland and freaky for your tastes, find a low fat dip to go with it.
I ate all those beans!!!

Best Baby Shower Gift Ever
June 21, 2007
Check out Bag Ladies; a cool site with extremely cheap (price wise) tote bags that are a little different. I love this pumpkin coloured diaper bag at only $8.95 a pop!
I guess it’s not for the more conservative ‘mothers’ but perfect for all those younger ‘yummy mummys’ you may know.
I just placed an order for a friend who is due to have her third(!) early next year!

Hiptop 3
June 20, 2007

I want a Hiptop3 phone so badly! These are THE cool thing in the U. S. of A. right now – apparently every teenager and generation Y kid with any ounce of street cred is sporting one. Also over there these babies are called Sidekicks – a much less pretentious name.
They are now available on plans with Telstra but are still out of my price range. I might be tempted to stretch my cash that little bit further to get one if the Telstra plans were a little more enticing. They are good in offering unlimited email, web browsing and messaging but all the phone calls are timed. They should have sexy capped plans like 3 does. Anyone know if this is possible?
I wonder if Telstra would buy out my current plan?
In the meanwhile, check out Fergie’s clip for Glamorous (below) – the cow has a hiptop in her fat little hands!

Hmm… Seems my appeal lies in the STI’s (called STD’s when I learnt sex ed) category. I guess if you write about things people are generally too embarrassed to talk about you’ll get hits… And if we look at search term number 5; people want pics of other people’s ‘embarassing’ ailments! Well if you look at my cosmetic surgery posts, they all feature a pic of my very own feral mouth growth. Unfortunately for these googlers though – it was just a weird growth and has nothing to do with sex sex sex…
Hmm this post alone should boost my popularity.
But listen people… If you have a growth (not just a fetish) of any kind – consult your doctor. Google can’t prescribe medications or diagnose you.
2 Men and a Truck
June 20, 2007
The other day I was stuck in traffic behind a truck for the company called Two Men and a Truck. I was staring at the logo pondering “What exactly are they doing to each other and that truck?”… This is a classic example of a logo i am glad I didn’t design… Honestly, it does look a bit laughable… Perhaps it’s not always a good idea to let your design student son/daughter/niece/nephew design a logo for your company?

It’s Hard Out Here For a Pimp
June 20, 2007

Someone overdosed and died on my doorstep (above) two days ago. Luckily they were removed before I left in the morning and I didn’t see anything. One of the welfare ladies who hang on the corner rushed over in glee to tell us the morning’s news. That’s city living for you… Gross.
Meanwhile on the other side of the inner-city-Sydney coin see below. A road block had me driving down a street in Erskinville today that I had never been on before. In contrast to the grey winter sky I was blown away by all the Autumn coloured leaves. I had been wondering what had happened to Autumn. Turns out it was hiding in Erko all along!
